Apply Himalayan Trust Nepal Scholarship Program For SEE Passed Students to Study Class 11 & Class 12
The main objective of the Himalayan Trust Nepal is to enhance the quality of the lives of the people in the Solukhumbu district through the integrated development of health, education, environment, and culture of the area. In line with the vision and programs initiated by Sir Ed, Himalayan Trust Nepal supports in health, education, environment and culture promotion in Solukhumbu district.
Scholarship amount: Annual Rs. 1,15,000/- (Rs. 60,000/- for educational institution fees and Rs. 55,000/- for board and lodging expenses)
Last date for submission of application: 16th of Bhadra 2081 accordingly within office hours of September 1, 2024.
Scholarship numbers– 6 (six)
Prescribed subjects: Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Accounting, Economics or Law subjects

Basis of scholarship selection:
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of Solukhumbu district and belong to the Dalit community.
- The applicant must have passed the entrance exam of the relevant educational institution to study the prescribed subjects.
- The selection will be based on the marks obtained in the examination and the marks obtained in the interview.
- After completing the studies, the students will have to give a commitment to return to their community for at least one year.
- Interview will be conducted by the Himalayan Trust Nepal scholarship committee for selection.

- Copy of mark sheet and character certificate
- Copy of Nepali Citizenship Certificate
- Letter of recommendation from concerned school
- Letter of recommendation from the concerned ward office that she is a Dalit and Jehender student.
- Two copies of passport size photographs.
Applications received after the deadline will not be included in the selection. Also, the shortlisted students will have to attend the orientation program conducted by Himalayan Trust Nepal.

Sir Edmund Hillary Memorial Scholarship (Sir Edmund Hillary Memorial Scholarship) – 24 people
This scholarship was established with a grant from the Himalayan Trust New Zealand and the New Zealand Aid Program in honor of Sir Edmund Hillary, who made a significant contribution to the educational development of Solukhumbu District. 7 secondary schools founded by Sir Edmund Hillary (Khumjung, Mahendra Jyoti (Chaurikhark), Taksindu, Kharikhola, Junwesi, Chandra Jyoti (Bhakanje) and PK Ma.Vi. (Loding)), and Juving Ma.Vi. 3/3 of the students who appeared in the SEE examination and passed from this school will be given Rs 5000 Per Months provided by Himalayan Tust Nepal.
The Mary Lowe Scholarships (The Mary Lowe Scholarships) 2 people
In honor of Mary Lou, a British citizen who has long supported Sir Edmund Hillary’s campaign to contribute significantly to the educational development of Solukhumbu district, Himalayan Trust U.K. This scholarship has been established with the grant of The 5 secondary schools established by Sir Edmund Hillary are Khumjung, Mahendra Jyoti, Taksindu, Kharikhola and Junwesi Secondary Schools. Among the students who join the SEE examination and pass, 2 students will receive a scholarship from Himalayan Trust Nepal to complete the 3-year study of Health Assistant, Staff Nurse, Pharmacy, Dental Hygienist, Lab Technician, or Epistemological Assistant.
The George Lowe Memorial Scholarship – 2 people
This scholarship was established with the grant of his wife Mary Low in honor of British citizen George Low, who supported Sir Edmund Hillary’s campaign for a long time, and contributed significantly to the educational development of the Solukhumbu district.

The humanitarian initiatives under the leadership of Sir Ed were strongly appreciated and supported by an outstanding group of partners and donors around the globe. The most important of these partners and donors organizations are The Himalayan Trust New Zealand, Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation of Canada, American Himalayan Foundation, Hillary Foundation Chicago, Sir Edmund Hillary Stiftung Germany, and The Himalayan Trust UK. With the local request, Sir Ed built 27 schools, 2 hospitals (Khunde and Phaplu Hospital), dozens of village level clinics, Lukla airport, bridges and freshwater supplies.
He also supported in the implementation of the Sagarmatha Forestry Project, maintenance and rebuilding of monasteries. These projects were implemented under the direct leadership of Sir Ed through Himalayan Trust New Zealand in close coordination of the advisory committee of Sherpa friends in Kathmandu until his death in 2008. The advisory committee was later transformed into Himalayan Trust Nepal (HTN) and registered as a local non-governmental organization in 2005 as per the law of the government of Nepal.
